DescriptionMAPEI Caribe is looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices with the ability to handle various financial tasks efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsabilities:
- Perform day to day financial transactions including verify classify compute post and record general accounting transactions.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly assigned journal entries (expense accruals reversals amortizations etc.).
- Perform detailed account analysis and reconciliation of assigned Balance Sheet accounts.
- Analyze expense accounts and provide variance explanations vs Budget/Forecast/Prior Year.
Accounts Payable:
- Analyze code and register invoices in A/P systemin compliance with financial policies and procedures and local government laws.
- Analyze and resolve purchase order contract invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation.
- Calculate and perform income tax withholding on supplier payments in accordance with state law and make monthly deposits to the PR Treasury Department.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual 480 informative returns on Income Tax withholding.
- Perform detailed account analysis of supplier accounts.
- Select invoices for payment and process payment run in Piteco.
- Upload invoices and documentation to Content Manager using DataCap
Accounts Receivable:
- Process account receivables and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Process Credit Card Payments and send receipts to customers.
- Analyze customer payments prepare bank deposit and post them in customer accounts.
- Perform detailed account analysis of customer accounts.
- Communicate with client to inquire about short/over payments past due balances etc.
- Prepare Debit/Credit Memos/Rebates
- Provide customers with account statements aging copy of invoices etc. when necessary.
- Review Customer Automatic Hold Status Report and provide support to Sales team with weekly aging reports and collections efforts.
General:
- Provide support with government compliance/reporting.
- Assist with quarterly physical inventory monthly closings and annual financial audit.
- Assist in the application of policy and internal controls.
- Work proactively to promote teamwork and establish communication with coworkers management staff customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations policies work procedures safety rules and instructions
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Experience and Special Requirements
- Requires a BBA in Accounting; three to five years accounting related experience.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret financial reports such as budgets financial statements and other accounting related reports and inventory control procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax and Income Tax Withholding rules.
- Bilingual communication skills speak and write English and Spanish
- Requires proficiency in Word Outlook and PowerPoint; D365 preferred.
- Attention to detail while multi-tasking within a fast-paced environment.
