Position Summary
This position exists to evaluate transfer students external transcripts and award transfer credit where appropriate. This requires verifying the accreditation of both domestic and international institutions determining the transferability and applicability of the individual coursework and providing an individualized report of transferred credit. This position advises students on credit applicability and explains the rationale behind transfer credit decisions and provides details about the next steps within the process.
The position also methodically examines reviews and verifies data within our transfer equivalency database correcting and updating information as necessary. The evaluator advises faculty and staff on appropriate use of transfer credit and ensures adherence to all university state and federal transfer policies. In addition the evaluator employs technical expertise to update student records and create electronic files. Continuous training is also provided by this position to fellow members of the Registrars office student employees and other offices at MSU Denver as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities
45% Performs timely and accurate transfer credit evaluations at the time of a transfer students admission into the university according to MSU Denver and Colorado state timeline requirements. Evaluations may include awards from regionally accredited institutions of higher learning alternative credit sources (AP CLEP IB self-paced learning or military credit) or international colleges. To perform these evaluations this position will determine accreditation status academic calendar (semester or quarter hours) course numbering system review the grading policies of national and international postsecondary schools research and analyze transfer credit and make decisions on course acceptability and appropriate course equivalency according to departmental policies as well as MSU Denver and CCHE Regulations. They will update the student record by awarding credit and updating the student academic record to ensure the students seamless transfer to MSU Denver.
30% This position will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the transfer equivalency database within the student information system . This position will add new course equivalencies to the database both using guidelines provided by university faculty and by working closely with faculty to make more specific determinations. This position will also perform audits of the accuracy of the equivalencies listed within the database and update the equivalencies according to changes made either at MSU Denver at the external institution or within the Colorado guaranteed transfer curriculum.
10% This position acts as a subject matter expert on university transfer credit policy answering students questions about the results of their transfer credit evaluations including credit awards and the applicability of transfer work to general studies and degree requirements. They will need to clearly explain transfer policies and guidelines and how they have applied to the students individual circumstances. This position can make requested changes to a students evaluation if they deemed to legitimately fall within the guidelines of academic departmental policies and MSU Denver regulations. This position advises administrators faculty and staff regarding degree requirements general studies applicability and distribution state guaranteed transfer guidelines articulation agreements with non-accredited and accredited schools with specialized program areas and specific requirements established by various academic departments and interprets clarifies and applies policies and standards. Additionally this position assists transfer counselors and peer mentors by resolving transfer issues researching course acceptability or accreditation of unfamiliar institutions and assisting in their office with preliminary evaluations and student inquiries.
10% Trains guides and explains work processes and procedures to co-workers and student employees by educating them about unfamiliar concepts: the purpose and use of various forms such as faculty transfer credit approval forms or the missing transcript form guidelines for accepting documents as complete and official; efficiently using various required software programs; navigating and manipulating the student information system; and operating peripheral hardware equipment.

Salary for Announcement
We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $47300 - $48100. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. Additionally Student Affairs has committed to tying our salaries to an understanding of a living wage. To that end we will not pay less than $47300.
The above salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
