Overview:About Lawrence Public Schools:Lawrence Public Schools is an urban district located 30 miles north of Boston serving more than 13000 students. We are committed to challenging students in meaningful ways through rigorous and engaging instructional Complex is seeking a founding Dual Language Spanish Kindergarten teacher to work in collaboration with staff members to implement the schools instructional vision for dual language. In the 24-25 school year we are opening two Kindergarten Dual Language classrooms and will add two classes yearly to create a DL strand within AES. We are seeking bilingual and biliterate professionals that are eager to be part of a founding program in our established public school setting. Candidates would be part of a close knit team that will work in collaboration to ensure the success of a new program within the school. The position includes the duties and responsibilities below and other functions as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal. What Makes AES Unique: -We value collaboration. We use a co-teaching model where two general education teachers share the work of creating classroom culture and planning for and teaching all students and subjects. -We prioritize adult learning. Weekly professional development and team time is built into our schedule. All teachers participate in consistent coaching cycles. -We value leadership from within the classroom. We provide opportunities for teachers to serve in leadership roles while maintaining their role as a classroom teacher. -We remain current on best practices. We believe in staying up to date on the latest research and best practices on teaching reading. All classroom teachers will be trained in the Science of Reading.-We emphasize social emotional learning and restorative practices. Students and staff participate in community circles to build empathy and problem solving skills.-We believe in inclusive classrooms. We ensure that all types of learners have the least restrictive environment. -We value work-life balance. We strive to have a workplace where people can grow personally as well as professionally. Role and Responsibilities: Planning and Preparation:-Plan daily lessons for an 80/20 Dual Language program in Spanish-Implement American Reading Company (ARC) and Envisions Math -Maintain daily classroom design and schedule-Tailor lesson plans to individual learners and make adjustments based on formative assessment results in English and SpanishClassroom Environment: -Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions within the classroom to support students-Arrange for small group learning stations to address a variety of learning styles-Incorporate Zones of Regulation (SEL Curriculum) into classroom culture-Present a warm and energetic personalityEngaging Students in Learning:-Plan and ask rigorous questions using the Depth of Knowledge Chart -Use SEI strategies to support students language acquisition -Intentionally plan for student collaboration and opportunities for dialogue-Utilize data to create targeted intervention groups Professional Practice: -Attend and participate in weekly professional learning communities and team time as well as individual coaching-Possess a growth mindset when it comes to engaging with relevant and mission-driven professional learning-Maintain and update gradebook-Attend and conduct parent-teacher conferences each school year (one in Fall and one in Spring)-Participate in IEP 504 and RtII meetings when necessary-Participate in Family Engagement events/outreach-Partner with families to develop strong home to school connections-Participate in Science of Reading professional development -Participate in assigned morning lunch/recess and afternoon duties-Support enforce and adhere to all school policies and procedures-Perform additional duties stated by grade and department-level leaders and the Leadership TeamAdditional Requirements:Massachusetts Teacher Certification in appropriate area Proficient in English Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish
