POSITION SUMMARY:
- Underthe direction of the Superintendent the Assistant Superintendent leads and supports the administration of leadership development and school improvement in the district. Will supervise elementary middle and high school principals provide system level support and guidance for student staff and leadership needs and coordinate the efforts of district level leadership including all Chief Officers.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Superintendent - School Leadership & Performance:
- Serves as an advisor to the Superintendent. *
- Has the ability to serve as acting superintendent in the superintendents absence. *
- Serves as a member of the Superintendents Cabinet and as the superintendents Chief of Staff. *
- Supervises and evaluates school principals providing them with actionable and growth-oriented feedback. *
- Oversees weekly principal meetings and collaboration. *
- Guides and supports school principals. *
- Oversees leadership development for school principals. *
- Oversees the implementation and accountability of school improvement plans and ensures alignment with the districts strategic plan. *
- Delivers written and oral presentations on leadership and learning accountability to various stakeholders including the Board of Trustees cabinet principals teachers parents and community groups. *
- Serves as an appeals officer for personnel academic and policy issues. *
- Coordinates with the Chief Student Advocacy Officer to ensure all student services including Special Education and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) are implemented with fidelity. *
- Coordinates with the Chief Human Resources Officer to ensure appropriate staffing is in place. *
- Collaborates and coordinates with the Chief Academic Officer to ensure Board-adopted curriculum is implemented with integrity and that all students have access to high-quality content and instruction. *
- Collaborates with school systems community agencies the Wyoming Department of Education and the University of Wyoming to promote shared learning. *
- Works with stakeholders to establish direction for school improvement efforts and monitors the progress of school performance student achievement objectives and academic excellence indicators to align strategies for improvement. *
- Ensures professional development for leaders is aligned with the strategic plan addresses learning needs and is job-embedded actionable and impactful. *
- Attends Board of Trustees meetings. *
- Required to work in person and on site. *
- Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the District. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations coursework workshops and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees taskforces in-depth studies or councils). *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Thorough knowledge of Wyoming learning standards; deep understanding of the qualities and attributes of effective school leaders; excellent human relations and organizational skills; strong problem-solving and consensus-building expertise; proven ability to supervise multiple functions with full accountability for effective operations and outcomes; thorough understanding of curriculum instruction learning equity and student-related services; strong knowledge of effective professional learning practices for school leaders; and demonstrated excellence in both oral and written communication.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Masters degree in educational leadership curriculum instruction or a related field. Must hold or be eligible to hold and principal or district leadership certification issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board.
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a school principal and minimum of 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher.
Preferred: Doctorate degree in educational leadership or a related field and successful experience in a central administration leadership position.

EVALUATION
- Evaluation of this position shall be by the Superintendent.
