- Certified Alberta Journeyman in the trade of Auto Body Mechanic
- 5 years experience as an Autobody Mechanic of which at least one year experience has been in heavy duty body works
- Experience in Industrial Coatings/Painting
- Some experience in sandblasting process and equipment

Skills required for success:
- Strong knowledge of the standard methods materials tools and equipment of the Auto Body technician trade
- Strong knowledge of the methods materials tools and equipment for Industrial painting
- Good understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Understand and execute verbal and written instructions and interpret plans and sketches
- Perform simple appraisal work on damaged vehicles
- Maintain simple records
- Skill in the use and care of the tools equipment and materials of the trade
- Ability to perform data entry in M5 and ability to use Google Workspace (Gmail. etc)

As a Municipal Fleet Maintenance Auto Body Mechanic youll handle a variety of skilled automotive body repairs and modifications alongside a wide range of industrial painting tasks for in-house custom fabricated items. These responsibilities involve accurately examining repairing and potentially modifying vehicle body components as well as applying industrial coatings to items like dump boxes plows and trailers.
What will you do
- Painting of shop fabricated components using conventional painting Spray gun Electrostatic and airless painting methods
- Staging of materials/ components that are in need of coating/ repair i.e. Hanging of materials on a rack to safely apply the respective coating
- Must have good knowledge of the industrial coating process
- Grinding sanding prepping masking
- Fills body dents or defects with appropriate compounds including preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning sandblasting grinding sanding applying undercoatings and primer
- Maintain open communication with the Controllers and Forepersons to ensure scheduling work flow and consistent quality of work
- Manage stocking levels for the body repair/ coating inventory
- Perform relevant maintenance on the tools required for the body tech/ coating processes
- Removes and replaces various components such as window frames mirrors handrails door steps and ramps
