This position is located in Gilchrist is located in northern Klamath County along U.S. Highway 97 about fifty miles south of Bend Oregon and fifteen miles south of La Pine Oregon. Gilchrist is nestled in the beautiful Deschutes National Forest which offers an abundance of outdoor recreation in a family friendly communitywith easy access to amenities.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The school Principal serves as the educational leader responsible for managing the policies regulations and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school district. Achieving academic excellence requires that the school Principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling curriculum development extracurricular activities personnel management emergency procedures and facility operations. The principal must have strong commitments to his/her own professional development.
Primary Function:
The primary functions are: Supervision and Evaluation of Licensed and Classified Staff Student Performance Public Relations Community Liaison Creation of a safe inclusive school environment Team Development and Instructional Leader. Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the districts communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
Manage evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy mission values and goals of the school including instructional programs extracurricular activities and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate building maintenance program evaluation personnel management office operations and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all laws board policies and civil regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold or qualify for appropriate Oregon administrative license.
Minimum five years experience as an educator.
Minimum of two years school administration experience.
A clear vision of the school instruction program; understanding school issues.
Ability to lead school improvement efforts informed by data that produce high achievement results.
Strong communication skills that establish positive collaborative working relationships with and among students staff parents and the community.
Effective management of school operations to support teaching and learning.
Understanding of effective educational programming including English language development talented and gifted and special education.
Expertise in personnelselection management evaluation and staff development
Strong fiscal manager; ability to marshal limited resources to meet student and school needs.
Previous administrative and athletic director experience preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Teacher Evaluation Systems.
Facilitator of ideas; ability to articulate and develop a shared vision within the school community.
Ability to create and foster a safe student-centered culture where high expectations and learning is valued.
Understanding of the role of instructional technologies.
Supporter of extracurricular programs and activities.
Experience in working with a diverse student body.
Must be willing to lead school level committees and initiatives and assist on district level committees.
