General Description:
Brookline Early Education Program (BEEP) seeks a highly qualified licensed PreKindergarten Long Term Substitue from August 31 to December 2 2025to teach in an inclusive classroom. Students enrolled in this inclusive classroom range in age for 3 and 5 years old and present with and without a variety of educational disabilities. The ideal teaching candidate will be creative and committed to designing implementing and documenting developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the needs and interests of all kinds of learners. In addition the candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be willing to work collaboratively with a dynamic team of early educators.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Design document and Implement curriculum
- Informed by the MA PK Curriculum Standards and district curriculum guidelines
- Integrated in content areas and across developmental domains and learning styles
- Provides connections to students experiences and prior learning
- Accessible to all students with and without identified special needs
- Demonstrates high quality tier 1 instruction and planned opportunities for MTSS intervention and support.
- Design and maintain an organized developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Document student learning through formal and anecdotal assessment authentic work samples checklists and photographs. Learning should be visible in classroom displays and student portfolios.
- Supervise and provide on-site training to classroom paraprofessional team.
- Establish a consistent classroom routine/daily schedule as well as positive classroom management systems.
- Design and implement individual behavior management programs.
- Maintain confidential records for all students that are accurate current and document student learning goals and progress and ongoing formal and informal assessment.
- Establish and maintain ongoing parent communication with all families. This will include weekly curriculum and class news opportunities for families to join students in classroom learning district required conferences and office hours and Open House as well as preparation for and attendance at in TEAM meetings.
- Progress monitoring and written progress reports for students with IEPs.
- Participation in multidisciplinary team activities including specialist consultations and trainings CCMs IEP meetings preparation of recommended tools (i.e. visuals individual schedules social stories).
- Active participation in all department and building meetings and required trainings.
- Assure the safety of all students. Follow a consistent plan for safe arrival/dismissal emergency procedures assessing safety of classroom environment and materials.
Requirements Qualifications:
- Mass. DESE Early Childhood Teaching License PreK to Grade 2 With and without Disabilities.
- SEI endorsement required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy to document weekly lessons and parent news and general classroom progress reports input assessment data daily attendance IEP goals and progress reports communicate via district email.
- Applicants must be physically mentally and emotionally prepared for a challenging career experience.
- Applicants must have positive academic and employment references.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information
- While performing the duties of this job the teacher is continually required to stand walk sit run squat kneel crawl climb balance crouch talk hear smell and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Teachers who works with students with behavioral and social-emotional needs and disabilities may be subjected to student behaviors that include but are not limited to hitting biting kicking scratching hair pulling
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree
- 2 years experience
