Job Description

Position Description:

Guiding Vision

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief is the senior clinical executive leader for Pediatric Mental & Behavioral Health Services within Childrens Specialty Group (CSG) and will have a parallel role within the dyad leadership structures of the Mental & Behavioral Health service lines at Childrens Wisconsin (CW). This individual will lead our nationally recognized multispecialty mental behavioral health services in the largest academic pediatric specialty practice in Wisconsin across all missions of clinical care education research and community engagement.

Overview

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief (MBHIC) is jointly appointed by CSG and CW and serves as the senior executive mental behavioral health leader for Childrens Specialty Group (CSG). The MBHIC will report directly to the CSG CEO and CW COO and serve in the CSG senior leadership group alongside the existing pediatrician- surgeon- diagnostician- and anesthesiologist-in chiefs. The in-chief will require a medical degree (MD Phd or PsyD) and will have commensurate faculty appointment at Medical College of Wisconsin in the Department of Pediatrics Department of Psychiatry and other appropriate departments. Responsibilities include but are not limited to operational and administrative support of the pediatric mental & behavioral health divisions (currently Pediatric Psychology & Developmental Medicine and Psychiatry) in partnership with the MCW chairs of Pediatrics and Psychiatry pediatric enterprise strategic planning and quality oversight. The MBHIC will also provide oversight of the academic activities of the CSG Mental & Behavioral Health faculty and staff in conjunction with the leadership of Childrens Research Institute and Medical College of Wisconsin.

Position Responsibilities

  • Leadership Vision and Financial Responsibility

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief will oversee the Mental & Behavioral Health Services Clinical Operating Unit within CSG. This operating unit includes all mental & behavioral health specialty practice units Pediatric Psychology & Developmental Medicine and Psychiatry.

The responsibilities of the Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief in partnership with the CSG CEO and the CW COO include faculty recruitment and retention mentorship of Mental & Behavioral Health divisional leaders oversight of the Mental & Behavioral Health divisions and Operational support.

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief will serve as a primary liaison with MCW Department Chairs for the assigned mental & behavioral health services.

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief will participate in strategic planning clinical program and infrastructure development within CW and CSG in conjunction with the pediatric surgical anesthesiology and diagnostic services leaders (In-Chiefs).

  • Quality

Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief will have oversight responsibility for quality programs across the pediatric mental & behavioral health platform and ensure that mental & behavioral health quality efforts are appropriately integrated with CW/CSG quality programs.

  • Education and Research

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief provides strategic and operational leadership oversight of academic educational and research activities of the Childrens Mental & Behavioral Health Services in conjunction with the Childrens Research Institute and Medical College of Wisconsin.

  • Philanthropy

The Mental & Behavioral Health-in-Chief provides support and leadership to philanthropic fundraising efforts on behalf of Childrens Hospital and Health Systems

Notes on Childrens Specialty Group:

The Childrens Specialty Group (CSG) is a joint venture between Childrens Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin. With over 70 specialties and 790 providers CSG has an annual net patient revenue of $200M. Last year CSG providers had 256000 outpatient visits at 13 regional care sites 75000 EDTC visits and over 10000 admissions; CSG surgical providers performed 20000 cases. CSG and Childrens Wisconsin are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through its ACS Level I Childrens Surgery Verification Center Level I Pediatric Trauma Center Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence 72-bed Level IV NICU Level IV Epilepsy Center and a 72-bed PICU.
