Job Description

Job Summary

In this course second year students (MS-II) will continue to build their foundation of clinical knowledge attitudes and patient care within the biopsychosocial model of health and illness. This should be a continuation of the skills that they acquired during Foundations of Patient Care 1 (FPC 1). Students will achieve competencies in basic skills of history taking physical and mental examination clinical reasoning oral case presentation and written documentation. Students will also gain basic skills in principles of bioethics managing bias and caring for unique populations. The course should enable students to grow professionally and personally; develop a greater capacity for self-awareness; therapeutic relationships; reflective practice; and moral agency.

Essential Functions

There will be four SIM sessions during this course that are facilitated by faculty. Each patient encounter is hybrid with both a Standardized Patient (SP) and SimMan (the simulation mannequin). These sessions will reinforce and develop comprehensive history taking skills physical exam skills oral presentations and written documentation.

Required Qualifications

Faculty should be either a MD or a DO who has completed medical school and an interest in teaching.
