Description

Position Summary
The Manager of Certification will provide specialized support and guidance to classified and certificated employees within the region who are working towards obtaining their teaching credentials. The manager will assist employees in navigating the credentialing process ensuring they meet the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requirements and offer resources to help employees transition successfully into teaching roles. This role requires a deep understanding of the teacher credentialing process excellent communication skills and the ability to guide employees through each step of their certification journey.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Customer-service oriented with a focus on supporting educators and administrative staff.

Experience:
  • At least 4 years of experience in education human resources or a related area with a focus on credentialing or supporting employees pursuing credentials.

Education:
  • Bachelors degree required; degree in Education Human Resources or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge required:
  • Strong knowledge of Californias teacher credentialing process and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) regulations.
  • Understanding of various teacher preparation pathways and credential types (e.g. Multiple Subject Single Subject and Special Education).
  • Familiarity with the process for transitioning classified staff into teaching roles including support for non-traditional pathways.

Skills required:
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to explain complex credentialing requirements in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and familiarity with credentialing software or google suit. .
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Credential Guidance & Support: Provide personalized support to classified employees pursuing teaching credentials by explaining credentialing requirements timelines and the steps required to achieve certification.

  • Application Review & Processing: Assist employees with the completion of credential applications verifying eligibility and ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on the latest California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requirements policies and changes in credentialing processes that affect classified employees seeking teaching credentials.

  • Credential Tracking: Maintain and monitor records of employees progress toward obtaining their teaching credentials including tracking coursework exams and any other requirements.

  • Workshops & Training: Organize and facilitate workshops information sessions and one-on-one meetings to help employees understand the credentialing process available programs and how to meet requirements.

  • Provide Resources: Direct employees to appropriate resources such as credentialing programs university partnerships and test preparation tools that align with their credentialing goals.

  • Collaboration with HR & Academic Departments: Work closely with HR Talent Operations and Academic departments to ensure classified employees receive the support they need to transition into teaching positions.

  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with CTC standards and track progress for district reporting preparing reports for administrators or stakeholders as needed.

  • Problem Resolution: Address any issues or barriers employees face in the credentialing process and work proactively to resolve them including helping employees navigate challenges like test requirements or missing coursework.

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and offering guidance related to credentialing maintaining a positive supportive relationship with classified employees.



Physical Mental and Environmental Demands

Physical: Ability to navigate office and school campuses and hold meetings in different spaces. Traditionally much of the day involves sitting. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs. Physical agility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively which may include kneeling walking pushing/pulling squatting twisting turning bending stooping and reaching overhead

Mental: Stress of deadlines and normal work standards ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives work with interruptions concentrate for long periods of time read calculate perform routine math problems memorize and recall objects and people.

Environmental: Office environment. Occasional school environment and travel. KIPP adheres to health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC CDE and public health agencies recommendations.

Classification
This is a full-time position based on a full year calendar year based out of our Regional Support Office with occasional travel to schools and districts.

The KIPP Regional Support Office operates in a hybrid environment. Most positions can expect to work in person 2 days per week and remotely the remaining days subject to change based on the needs of the role.

KIPP Northern California is dedicated to you and your familys well-being! We offer a competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical dental vision and transportation benefits.
We benchmark annually against comparably-sized non-profit organizations in the regions where we operate to offer competitive salaries. The salary range for this position is between $89000 and $107000. Most candidates would be compensated at $95000.
