Pay range is $21.646 - $31.908 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
JOB DUTIES:
- Receive/initiate work assignments; schedules assigns coordinates and guide the work of a units technicians in accordance with established requirements to assist supervisory staff in the timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
- Review and report on the work performance of co-workers to determine overall conformity to established timetables and quality standards and to document and communicate employee production levels and training needs.
- Communicate with NDOT field personnel contractor personnel and materials suppliers/producers regarding the use and/or sampling of construction materials.
- Prepare test samples and perform physical testing on cementitious materials and concrete including compression flexure modulus etc.
- Follow established procedures and guidance documents as well as AASHTO and ASTM standards for the receiving processing and testing of samples.
- Data entry into multiple computer systems including but not limited to Forney AASHTOware Project etc.
- Perform calibrations of equipment and maintain the cleanliness of the equipment and labs.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:High school education or the equivalent and experience in highway construction inspection or materials testing or other laboratory operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the procedures and policies involved in the sampling testing and inspection of materials used in concrete construction.
- Experience working with testing equipment and hand tools.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
Other:
- Must have a valid drivers license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
- Must be able to work on a flexible schedule with the potential of weekend work for less than two hours to perform a test
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- May require overnight travel.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office products Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with peers contractors and NDOT project personnel.
