Prairie View A&M University a proud Historically Black College and University (HBCU) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Part-Time Grant Writer. This position plays a key role in securing external funding to support the universitys mission strategic initiatives student success and community impact. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities developing compelling proposals and cultivating relationships with foundations corporations and other potential funders.
Responsibilities:
Research and identify grant funding opportunities that align with the universitys priorities and programs.
Write edit and submit clear persuasive and well-structured grant proposals letters of inquiry and reports to foundations corporations and government agencies.
Develop and maintain relationships with grant funders through proactive communication site visits and stewardship activities.
Collaborate with faculty staff and administrators to gather necessary information for proposals and to ensure alignment with funder guidelines and institutional goals.
Maintain a calendar of submission deadlines reporting requirements and stewardship activities to ensure timely submissions and follow-up.
Track grant activity prepare status reports and assist with compliance and reporting requirements as needed.
Assist in developing case statements and other materials to support fundraising efforts.
Participate in trainings networking events and meetings with funders to stay informed of funding trends and opportunities.
Performs other duties as as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience in writing grant proposals.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Other Requirements:
Ability to exert light force.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience in writing grant proposals.
Previous experience with non-profit or university fundraising.
Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
Knowledge of basic fundraising technique and strategies.
Ability to monitor and meet income goals.
Excellent written communication skills; ability to write clear structured articulate and persuasive proposals.
Strong editing skills.
Special Requirements:
Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelors degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of six years of experience.
