Director of Nursing
Arc of Onondaga is seeking a Registered Nurse to oversee the care of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as the Director of Nursing.
The Director of Nursing oversees nursing and health-related services for Arc of Onondaga including but not limited to developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures ensuring the quality of services administered by agency RNs and LPNs and providing healthcare related support as needed to all departments at Arc of Onondaga.
Job Requirements:
- Develops maintains and monitors systems used for documenting the quality of nursing services.
- Monitors internal systems recommends follow up as needed and partners with outside providers to ensure that all program service needs are met.
- Supervises agency RNs and LPNs while ensuring a cohesive nursing team that is utilized across the agency as needed.
- Oversees and assists in the development and revision of nursing and health-related policies and regulations.
- Provides oversight teaching assignment and supervision to all training courses provided by nursing staff.
- Oversees AMAP certification process including training medication pours recertifications evaluations and medication errors.
- May function as the primary RN for a small caseload and assumes responsibility of caseloads from departing nurses or assigns as appropriate to existing nurses.
- Oversees the tuberculosis screening program by scheduling PPD clinics and conducting associated follow up.
- Must maintain job-required certifications and licenses.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Licensed and currently registered as a Registered Professional Nurse by the New York State Department of Education.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in the field of OPWDD and Managed Care environment preferred.
- A valid NYS drivers license and a driving record acceptable to the agencys insurance carrier.
