  • Full Time 35 hours per week
  • Temporary up to 30 June 2028
  • Location: Willing to consider candidates across all NSW locations. Preference will be given to candidates based regionally with a focus on Nowra Narooma Port Stephens and Coffs Harbour
  • Clerk Grade 5/6 Salary from $99938 - $110271 per annum plus super and leave loading

About the Role
As a Project Officer working in the Aboriginal Fishing and Marine Conservation branch you will support the administration of a number of programs in the Aboriginal Fishing team including the Aboriginal Fishing Trust Fund as well as the Aboriginal Fishing Advisory Council. You will also work with Aboriginal communities to enable effective inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives and cultural issues into key Aboriginal Fishing programs and initiatives.

About You
This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and
  • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

Additionally you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal community engagement and administrative support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships.
  • Capacity to work in a culturally appropriate manner when dealing with a diverse range of complex issues
