We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee our companys procurement activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing supplier relationships negotiating contracts and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services at the best possible cost and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development:
o Lead mentor and motivate the purchasing team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement accountability and professional growth within the team.
o Identify training needs and support career development opportunities for team members.
Strategic Procurement Management:
o Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. production finance planning) to anticipate procurement needs and manage inventory levels effectively.
o Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives and drive cost savings.
o Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure procurement plans meet operational demands.
Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement:
o Guide the team in building and maintaining strong supplier relationships ensuring reliability and quality.
o Act as the escalation point for supplier issues and lead negotiations for critical contracts including terms pricing and service level agreements to secure favorable conditions and mitigate risks.
o Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance and procurement processes; analyze data to drive continuous improvement.
Process Optimization & Performance Monitoring:
o Oversee procurement workflows to improve efficiency compliance and risk mitigation.
o Establish and monitor KPIs to assess team performance and supplier effectiveness.
Risk & Compliance Oversight:
o Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
o Lead efforts to identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Background and Skills
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related discipline; MBA or professional certification (e.g. CPSM CIPS) is a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement management preferably within the manufacturing space.
Proven expertise in strategic sourcing contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
Practical/applied knowledge of materials management and procurement including:
o LCR sourcing or management;
o Supply Chain management and improvement;
o Process capability fluency in quality management tools;
o Sourcing cost-benefit analysis;
o Kanban implementation;
o Lead time reduction;
Team member development.
