Job Description

Purpose: In our continuing mission to enable digital science across Crop Protection Research and Development (CP R&D) we are looking for a technical lead to support the numerous teams delivering a significant high value

and impactful transformation across laboratories globally. This role supports all innovation streams in CP R&D from connecting devices in the laboratories through developing out IIoT platform to creating data products that can be reused for AI analytics and visualization to enable decision making across the enterprise. You will be someone who is curious and courageous to act. You are seeking to have impact through building a deep understanding of how our processes in R&D functions create value and support the invention of new active ingredients from small chemical molecules to biologicals and new modalities. By working in collaboration with data architects and others you will lead teams to implement an intentional architecture and ensure technical delivery standards. This encompasses shaping roadmaps to support our existing and new applications capabilities and shared service layers to support the business functions. You are not shy of stepping into a lab and work together with scientists hands-on at the software and hardware interface.

Working further than Research and Development with colleagues in Science and IT you will support a multi-million dollar investment into existing DevOps teams across the core capabilities needed including creating experiments capturing data creating FAIR data products and a data exploitation layer that leverages the power of AI. You will deeply understand DevOps best practices architecture standards and emerging technologies and support vendor and internal teams delivering a delivery heartbeat. You will bring excellence to life by being involved in all aspects of delivery and learning through doing.

Accountabilities

Developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture roadmap for connected laboratories and IIoT across Syngenta and vendor development teams

Ensuring compliance with Syngenta and industry standards and regulations

Determining the technology system architecture and functional design needed to support and meet the domains business goals

Defining common elements patterns and standards to facilitate software reuse across the domain

Ensuring effective usage of IT assets (infrastructure and systems)

Ownership and maintenance of comprehensive architecture documentation

Evaluating existing IT landscape for exposure or weaknesses that could compromise performance security or efficiency

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards

Participating in vendor selection and management for key technology solutions

Ensuring full adaptation of modern software engineering practices (Clean Code GitFlow ...)

Play a key role in the architecture community setting direction and best practice across R&D


Qualifications :

Experience / Previous jobs required for the job

5 yr proven track record acting as a hands-on solution architect / enterprise architect with a strong foundation in Software Engineering

A proven track record connecting devices (IIoT etc.) and using those data sets

Proven track record of designing and delivering of distributed and integrated systems

Experience in setting up high performing DevOps teamsExcellent knowledge of software architecture principles and best practices

Strong Problem-solving and analytical skills

Strategic thinking and ability to align technology with business goals

Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS essential other clouds desirable)

Experience in creating enterprise data products

Knowledge of data architecture and governance principles

Experience with AI/ML integration in enterprise systems

Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies

Critical knowledge and education required for the job:

University Bachelors or Masters Degree in software engineering Information technology or comparable is essential

Strong customer focus communication teamwork and negotiation skills

Aware of advances in technology and science in the external world

Act on your own with minimal guidance in a complex scientific environment while still ensuring full compliance with all internal and external standards

Certifications:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate

iSAQB or TOGAF FoundationFluency in English
