Westwood Professional Services Inc. is on the lookout for a talented and collaborative Substation Designer - Physical (CAD Technician) to join our team. If you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating exceptional drawings this is the perfect opportunity for you. As a Substation Designer you will be responsible for preparing civil and physical electrical drawings for high voltage utility substations projects and renewable energy interconnections. Working closely with our team of engineers and consultants you will bring these projects to life on paper. • Create CAD designs for Physical Substation engineering products and deliverables.
• Typical drafting is that of plan and profile drawings for
  • General Arrangements
  • Plan Views and Elevation Views
  • Grounding Plans and Details
  • Foundation Plans and Details
  • Cable Trough/Conduit Plans and Details
  • Foundation Layout Plans
  • Importation of tables and calculations such as BOMs and creating notes to be applied to each drawing.
  • Steel Structure Fabrication Drawings (preferred)
  • Concrete Foundation Detail Drawings (preferred)
  • Oil Containment Detail Drawings (preferred)
  • Metal Grate Platforms Detail Drawings (preferred)
  • Fire Wall Detail Drawings (preferred)
• Collaborate seamlessly with a team of talented engineers and drafters to identify and rectify any discrepancies in drawings and designs ensuring flawless execution.
• Master the art of drafting specializing in the creation of captivating plan and profile drawings that showcase the intricate details of projects including general arrangements plan views elevation views grounding plans foundation plans and more.
• Utilize technical expertise to import tables and calculations such as bills of materials and infuse each drawing with carefully crafted notes that enhance clarity and comprehension.
• Produce steel structure fabrication drawings concrete foundation detail drawings oil containment detail drawings metal grate platforms detail drawings fire wall detail drawings and more (preferred).
• Embrace a meticulous approach to work conducting thorough self-checks to ensure the utmost accuracy before presenting the final product to the supervisor or designated reviewer.
• Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail correspondence attending meetings and other project documents required for project completion.
• Work across departments and with other teams to complete projects

• Associate degree in Design & Drafting Technology or related field of study.

• Minimum of 2 yrs. of CAD experience AutoCAD experience

• Minimum of 3 yrs. of CAD experience AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Knowledge of transmission and distribution projects in addition to substation projects preferred.
