About Us
The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with bus tube DLR and Elizabeth Line access. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the both the Theatre Royal Stratford East and Stratford Circus Arts Centre offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
You will be working within the Highways and Sustainable Transport service within theEnvironment and Sustainable Transportdirectorate where we are committed to making all our streets safer and healthier so that more people choose to walk and cycle and can enjoy healthy and active local journeys with better air quality and less cars on local streets.
About the Job
The post holder will be required to be proficient in public service tendering contract management using the NEC 4 Suite of contracts Manual Contracts for Highways Works highways design construction and maintenance. Although Project Managers will be assigned to manage the actual projects and run them on site the post holder will need to have an overall view of the management of the contracts themselves. The post holder will need to monitor spend KPIs and be the lead officer for contract management queries. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the Principal Officer for Planned Maintenance and Urban Design who manages the delivery of the Capital Programme and the other principal officers and Senior Project Managers.
The post holder should hold a relevant qualification in the Highways/Construction Management/ Civil Engineering field.
About You
To apply you will have the knowledge experience and skills to work in a highly pressurized environment both on your own and within a team to manage the various contracts that are in should have demonstrable relevant experience and skills in highways design site supervision project management of highway engineering and traffic management projects as well as stakeholder management and contract management experience. It is expected that the post holder be approaching professional member status with an appropriate institution.
