Job Description:

The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Analyst will be responsible for designing developing and maintaining data protection strategies to safeguard sensitive data. This role will support the broader Data Loss Protection Management team in identifying and mitigating risks associated with data exposure aligning DLP policies with enterprise data governance standards and collaborating with stakeholders to implement advanced DLP capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-depth data review and analysis to identify and classify sensitive information requiring protection.
  • Correlate data from diverse sources (e.g. endpoint monitoring tools investigator feedback) to generate risk-based alerts and investigative leads.
  • Develop tune and maintain DLP detection rules policies and response workflows to monitor protected data in-use in-transit and at-rest.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to implement and enhance enterprise DLP tools and strategies.
  • Align DLP controls with corporate data governance privacy frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Analyze and optimize security alerts to reduce false positives and improve incident detection.
  • Collaborate with teams across cybersecurity privacy and compliance on DLP and broader data protection initiatives.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits (e.g. PCI-DSS SOC2) by producing required documentation and evidence.
  • Conduct ongoing research and analysis to stay current with data protection best practices trends and technologies.
  • Design and maintain security controls and monitoring capabilities for cloud-based infrastructure in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Produce regular reports on DLP-related incidents and propose continuous improvements in both process and technology.

Qualifications:

  • University degree
  • Information security certification / accreditation an asset
  • 5-7years of relevant experience
  • 3 years experience designing configuring and deploying DLP policies across enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with data protection strategies related to PII PCI Intellectual property and other sensitive information types.
  • Strong knowledge of security monitoring tools and technologies including: SIEM (Splunk) EDR and UEBA

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security features and Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience using user activity monitoring tools such as Proofpoint ITM.
  • Ability to develop detection logic alert rules and custom dashboards.
  • Experience working with APIs and integrating data protection tools into broader security ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data governance privacy standards and compliance frameworks.
