Job Description

Site: Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary

The current staffing model splitting one supervisor between two buildings has proven unsustainable due to the operational demands of both facilities. Major challenges in maintaining timely response to emergencies implementing infection control protocols and ensuring consistent coverage. With ongoing regulatory requirements heightened infection control standards each building requires a dedicated on site supervisor.


Job Summary

This is a working supervisor position assisting in the day-to-day maintenance and/or completion of projects. This position will oversee snow and ice removal operations. Supervises all maintenance staff and participates in the employee performance appraisal process. Helps direct repairs installation and testing of equipment. Responsible for supervising departmental operations and performance to achieve financial strategic and operational goals for the Facilities Department and maintenance and construction at all assigned locations which includes overseeing the staff and contractors in these areas.


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises and develops a multi-trade facilities team and manages vendor contracts in reference to maintenance repairs and operations. Provides tradespersons with assigned work orders via computerized maintenance management system. Establishes standards for work quality and inspects work to ensure compliance. Manages the attendance and work performance of each employee. Reviews contracts and proposals with Asst Facilities Director and Facilities Director for accuracy and scheduling. Communicates with the MEE Wastewater Consultant and ensures all wastewater reports are adhered to and all remote alerts and notifications are functioning with our BAS vendor Prioritizes and assigns preventive maintenance work orders and corrective work orders Dispatches appropriate technicians and resources throughout hospital for various repairs in a timely manner. Handles general administrative responsibilities. Responds timely to inquiries email calendar requests and activities related to departmental operations. Oversees facilities emergency equipment inventory and supplies inventory including radios pagers ipads etc. Supports the Asst Facilities Director with all regulatory compliance with City of Boston Inspectional Services Fire Prevention and Water and Sewer Commission. Monitors Building Automation Systems Fire Alarm Systems Fire Prevention Systems Emergency Power Systems including notifications to Public Safety and department reporting. Reports equipment in need of repair such as elevators fire alarm systems etc. to the Asst. Facilities Director Facilities Director and the appropriate service companies and follow through with outstanding work orders. Arranges training and in-services general maintenance employees. Subject to a call in anytime for emergencies. Respond to problems of all trades during off shift hours as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates or Bachelors degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 2 to 3 years of facilities management experience healthcare facilities experience preferred.

Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.

Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) ability to work with a team and independently.

Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks.

Prioritization and organizational skills are essential.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Grade 2 License desired or required to obtain within one year upon employment.
