Position Summary

The Surgery unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. This is a 5-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support.

The Surgical Services Director directs the departments activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives

  • Develops and implements departmental goals plans and standards consistent with the clinical administrative legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations including patient care delivery information technologies service level determination and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities including hiring orienting evaluating disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares monitors and evaluates departmental budgets and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers clients patients contractors and vendors.
  • Manage the work of others including planning assigning scheduling and reviewing work ensures quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring terminating training and developing reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred
  • Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire

Licenses:

  • Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
