Job Description

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an Apprentice Instrumentation Technician to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE Calgary AB T2C 4R6). The Apprentice Instrumentation Technician will support the installation testing calibration maintenance and repair of instrumentation and control systems under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers. This role involves hands-on learning and active participation in a variety of projects with a strong emphasis on safety quality and continuous improvement. Shift Details: 4:20 p.m. - 2:30 a.m. (4 days/week10 hours/day). Overtime is as required

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

INSTRUMENTATION & ASSEMBLY (Weighting 40%)

Tubing & Instrumentation Installation

  • Fabrication and installation of tubing
  • Fabricate and install tubing raceway
  • Mount and Install instruments

Design

  • Skid layout using P&IDs GAs
  • Work closely with other trades to optimize the design of units

TESTING CALIBRATION & MAINTENANCE (Weighting 30%)

Precision Testing

  • Test accuracy of flow meters pressure gages temperature indicators controllers and other recording indicating or controlling instruments.
  • Regularly calibrate instrumentation to ensure accurate readings and compliance with industry standards.

Operational Integrity

  • Diagnose and repair faults in instrumentation and control systems to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Keep detailed records of all installation testing and maintenance activities ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

COLLABORATION (Weighting 30%)

Professional Conduct

  • Professional interaction with internal customers vendors customer representatives and inspectors.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations

Continuous improvement & Development

  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Participate in training programs: Engage in ongoing training and development to stay current with new technologies standards and best practices in instrumentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Instrumentation Technician Apprentice 3rd year or greater.
  • 2 years of industrial instrument construction/manufacturing experience.
  • Fabrication Shop experience and asset
  • Strong instrument and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Well organized excellent communication skills work well in a team environment.
  • Applicable tooling required
