Job Description

Gidgee Healing is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager Programs to lead the delivery of culturally safe high-quality health and wellbeing services across the Mount Isa and Lower Gulf regions. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the health and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in North West Queensland.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer the General Manager Programs is responsible for the operational leadership of a diverse portfolio of health and wellbeing programs. This includes oversight of program delivery coordination of human resource functions and ensuring quality assurance across multiple service areas.

The role supervises a range of program managers and coordinators and requires regular travel to remote communities across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams across multiple program areas
  • Ensure culturally appropriate service delivery aligned with Gidgee Healings Model of Care
  • Oversee program planning budgeting reporting and continuous improvement
  • Foster strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities stakeholders and Elders
  • Support workforce development performance management and team wellbeing
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance quality standards and funding requirements

Selection Criteria

  • Proven ability to engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Tertiary qualifications in business health or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated operational leadership experience preferably in a health setting
  • Strong understanding of health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Commitment to the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals and organisations

Practical Requirements

  • Current QLD C Class Drivers Licence (essential)
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Current Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to travel regularly including overnight stays in remote areas and travel by small aircraft
