Amazons Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer to fill the position of Associate Corporate Counsel supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) a dynamic and rapidly growing business within . AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity storage content delivery database services artificial intelligence and machine learning and more. This position will support AWSs global energy and water teams in working with utilities constructing new infrastructure and piloting innovative carbon-free energy projects in support of The Climate Pledge which commits Amazon to achieve net zero carbon by 2040 ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement.
You will work directly with the various business teams to provide day-to-day advice and contract interpretation. You will also help develop implement and manage process improvements across the team resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Key job responsibilities As Associate Corporate Counsel you will partner with AWSs business teams to support global energy and water supply infrastructure and services agreements and provide guidance on working with private and governmental utilities. You will have responsibility for structuring drafting and negotiating agreements and counseling business partners on: - Utility interconnection agreements - Unique water supply and/or reuse arrangements - Vendor agreements including engineering design and construction agreements - Sustainable carbon-free energy initiatives - Energy regulation and compliance - Energy and water strategy that aids AWSs growth plans
- 2 years of legal experience - Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent - Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
- Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent - Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work - Experience in web services/cloud computing software licensing telecommunications or equivalent - Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines - Experience in utility transactions involving infrastructure construction and ongoing service - Familiar with utility and energy regulation (e.g. PUC and/or FERC)
