Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests
  • Assists with dish washing and distribution of clean dishes if needed
  • Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in working areas
  • Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code
  • Completes all assigned cleaning tasks
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
  • Conditions Work in well-lighted/ventilated areas.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents personnel visitors government agencies/personnel etc. under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents family members personnel and visitors.
  • Communicates with the nursing personnel other department personnel and supervisors.
  • Is subject to sudden temperature changes when entering therefrigerator.
  • May be exposed to hot/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage areas.
  • Works beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary. Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (severe weather evacuations post-disaster etc.)
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Is subject to injury from falls burns from equipment odors etc. throughout the workday as well as to reactions from dust disinfectants tobacco smoke and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste diseases conditions etc. including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Report complaints and grievances made by residents or families.
  • Report absenteeism and tardiness to the Director.
  • Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work. Follow the established call-out policy.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood body fluids infectious materials and hazardous chemicals to your supervisor.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator.
  • Inspect each piece of silverware to make sure it is clean.
  • Arrange tray cards according to your station.
  • Use proper table-setting techniques.
  • Serve on the tray line placing foods on the residents trays according to the instructions on the menu.
  • Check menus for diet serving size and any written instructions.
  • Notify the Dining service manager /or Assistant manager if any resident has not come to the dining room for their scheduled meal time.
  • Report any change in the residents eating habits and any problems a resident might have.
  • Serve water juice milk and coffee as requested.
  • Use proper serving techniques.
  • Bus tables throughout the meal service.
  • Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
  • Serve meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Check the cleaning list daily.
  • Follow cleaning duties under established policies and procedures.
  • Clean and wipe down dining room tables and chairs daily.
  • Sweep and mop floors as directed.
  • Carry soiled utensils etc. to the wash area.
  • Carry out garbage and keep the work area clean dry and free of hazardous equipment supplies etc.
  • Assure all work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dining Services.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
  • Experience waiting tables in a hotel restaurant or club with fine dining preferred; will train
  • Ability to interpret and explain the menu refer or answer questions coordinate meal service process and understand requests
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with residents and guests
  • Perform all assigned tasks per our established policies and procedures and as instructed by your supervisor.
  • Follow work assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel as well as with other departments within the facility to ensure that Dining service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.

Staff Development

  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes as required. Attend and participate in scheduled orientation programs and activities.
  • Attend and participate in facility in-servicing programs as instructed.

Safety & Sanitation

  • Serve food etc. following sanitary regulations as well as with our established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain your work area in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times.
  • Follow established Infection Control Precaution policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
  • Ensure that the department is maintained cleanly and safely by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained..
  • Report all accidents/incidents as established by department policies. Fill out and file reports as directed.
  • Assist in maintaining dining storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
  • Dispose of food and waste following established policies.
  • Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor.
  • Other(s) that may become necessary/ appropriate to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean safe and comfortable manner.
  • Report missing/illegible labels and MSDSs to your supervisor.

Equipment & Supplies

  • Use only the equipment you have been trained to use. Safely operate all equipment. Use only the equipment and supplies necessary to do the job. Do not be wasteful. Report defective equipment to your supervisor. Inform the Supervisor of your equipment and supply needs.

Resident Right

  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
  • Ensure that you treat all residents are treated fairly and with kindness dignity and respect.
  • Ensure that you knock before entering the residents apartment.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
