Sr. Software Engineering Manager - Surgical Robotics -Boston MA

You will join a world class team of mechanical electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform: patient outcomes. Come for a job stay for a career.

Located at the Medtronic office in the Seaport District of Boston MA as a Senior Software Engineering Manager you are responsible for managing and leading several software engineering teams across the globe in the areas of embedded and platform software development providing technical guidance and ensuring project success. You also focus on developing and growing talent within the team collaborating with global teams and contributing to the Robotics Software overall technical strategy.

As an ideal candidate you will have any or all the following experience:
Managing and leading multiple teams of software managers and engineers including hiring performance management and team development preferably in the global R&D environment settings.
Designing and developing software for complex electromechanical software systems including embedded software development as well as RTOS distributed computing software Infrastructure etc.
Providing technical direction and guidance to the teams on the software architecture design verification and validation ensuring alignment with product strategy and business goals; developing and maintaining long-term software technical roadmap.
Collaborating and managing software projects in both Agile/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and traditional project management methodologies.
Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity while adhering to quality standards and best practices.
Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including hardware systems quality regulatory and other product development teams; Communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audience.
Experience in medical device or regulated industry software development is preferred.
Experience in robotics software development is a plus






Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees activities of the companys development and design requirements for software systems applications and software quality assurance for enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools to meet the current and future Software needs.
  • Manages activities to assure programs are appropriately resourced and ensure continuous improvement in technical capability process and compliance.
  • Manages scope cost and schedule within a cross-functional development team.
  • Selects develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Must have: Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in engineering related field and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5 years of managerial experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience with 5 years of management experience.

Working Conditions:
Standard Office setting in Boston MA. Some limited travel may be required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$175200.00 - $262800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
