Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Broxtowe to assist with the appointment of a Stores Assistant on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 13.51 - 17.18 per hour

Summary:

The Stores Assistant supports the effective operation of the Kimberley Depot by assisting in the procurement stock management and distribution of various materials equipment and fuel. The role also includes compliance with environmental regulations and council procedures to ensure accurate record-keeping inventory control and store security. This position plays a key part in servicing all operational departments within the council.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily procurement purchase and issuing of stock items including fuel using the Councils IT systems and Purchase Card.
  • Support continuous stocktaking processes in line with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Monitor and document incoming goods for quality and quantity.
  • Issue stock and fuel accurately and ensure all relevant documentation is completed and processed.
  • Assist with the management and distribution of horticultural chemicals to the Grounds Maintenance Department ensuring accurate recording and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Requirements:
  • Relevant vocational or technical qualifications related to stock or stores management (desirable).
  • Certification in handling hazardous materials or chemicals (preferred but not essential).
  • Previous experience in a stores inventory or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with stock control software or Council IT systems (training can be provided).
  • Basic understanding of environmental and waste management regulations.
  • Ability to follow procedures accurately and maintain detailed records.
  • Experience in dealing with contractors and internal departments in a support capacity.
  • Awareness of health and safety standards relevant to stores or depot operations.
