Infection Control Nurse Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures
- Conduct regular assessments of the facility to identify and mitigate potential infection risks
- Train staff on proper infection control techniques and protocols
- Monitor and report on the incidence and trends of infections
- Investigate and respond to reports of infections
- Collaborate with IDT to develop and implement infection control programs
- Stay up-to-date with current infection control practices and regulations
- Provide guidance and education to patients and families on infection control measures
- This nurse will be asked to assist in nursing administrative paperwork and audits
- Any other duties as assigned by DON or UM in nursing scope of practice
This position will also be a back up to the Unit Manager position occasionally when the DON or UM is on vacation.
This position will NOT be required to take on call but if interested may have have the opportunity to.
This position will be on the nursing administrative team.
Experience
- At a minimum must have 2 years of management or leadership experience (UM ADON or DON)
- At a minimum 2 years of skilled nursing.
- Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology microbiology infectious diseases and aseptic technique to include universal precautions.
- APIC Certification in infection control preferred but not necessary.
Specific Requirements
- Must possess a current unencumbered active Utah license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
- Must be able to read write speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess ability to deal tactfully with personnel residents family members visitors government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as laws regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care and infection control to include universal precautions.
- Must possess leadership supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel. Must possess ability to plan organize develop implement and interpret programs goals.
