Bengalla Mining Company is a joint venture with a strong track record of achievement. Our focus is on maintaining strong safety productivity and profitability results. Operational since 1999 Bengalla is in Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley and supplies international markets with approximately 13 Mtpa.

Bengalla is an open cut coal mine offering a residential lifestyle. The development consent for the operation provides the ability to mine through to 2039. We pride ourselves on the professionalism with which we pursue our goals and our strong links into our community.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking experienced Plant Mechanics to join our Field Maintenance and Breakdown Maintenance teams. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor you will be part of a collaborative and multi-disciplined team responsible for both preventative and corrective maintenance across our fleet of heavy mining equipment.

As a Plant Mechanic at Bengalla youll play a vital role in maintaining the performance and reliability of our fleet. Whether youre conducting scheduled servicing troubleshooting in the field or solving complex mechanical issues your expertise will directly support safe and efficient mining operations.

Using your knowledge and skills you are enabled to take ownership prioritise and plan tasks safely efficiently and cost effectively as well as identify and action improvement opportunities that you see fit.

Working a Lifestyle roster consisting of 12.5 hour shifts you will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting fault finding and defect elimination of Bengallas heavy mining equipment fleets to satisfy appropriate governing standards
  • Diagnosing repairing and performing routine servicing of equipment and plant
  • Ensuring all work completed is to the highest standard to ensure fleet reliability
  • Providing assistance in the development and improvement of maintenance strategies
  • Complying with Bengallas Health Safety and Environmental procedures at all times

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (Plant Mechanic)
  • Demonstrated experience with maintenance of heavy mining equipment is essential (Hitachi Cat and Komatsu)
  • A strong service background with proven experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound computer skills
  • Excellent work quality and attention to detail
  • Ability to focus on continuous improvement working safely and meeting environmental standards.
