Overview
Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a compassionate organized and service-oriented Patient Customer Service Representative/Aide to support our Rehabilitation Services team. In this dual role you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients facilitate seamless care delivery and assist clinical staff with the preparation and flow of therapy sessions. Key Responsibilities
Greet patients and answer phone calls in a courteous professional manner
Perform patient registration and scheduling; update status (arrived no-show canceled)
Coordinate with schedulers insurance specialists and clinicians to optimize patient flow
Update insurance information and assist with billing/authorization inquiries
Collect payments at the point of service; respond to patient billing questions
Create and maintain patient charts documentation and discharge processing
Process medical records requests in compliance with policies
Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in treatment rooms and therapy gym
Assist therapists (PT/OT/SLP) with patient care setup and support as directed
Clean equipment per infection control guidelines; report any issues or needs
Travel between outpatient sites as assigned for coverage
Serve as back-up to other administrative functions as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
Professional clear and pleasant phone demeanor
Strong multitasking organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency with computers and accurate data entry/reporting
Preferred Qualifications
1 year of healthcare office experience or therapy clinic support experience
Knowledge of medical terminology coding billing and medical records
Experience interacting with patients or the public in a clinical/community setting
Bilingual (language preference may vary by location)
Working Conditions
Manual Skills: Basic dexterity and coordination
Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort; may exert up to 10 lbs. of force
Environment: Generally pleasant clinical outpatient setting
