Respiratory Therapist ICU Permanent Role Location: Fort Worth TX 76104
Shift: 12 HR Nights 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 12 per week
Compensation: Based on experience
Essential Functions: - Perform and manage respiratory therapies including oxygen and aerosol delivery inhaled medications airway clearance and mechanical ventilation.
- Review physician orders and patient test results to tailor therapy to patient needs.
- Initiate and follow approved protocols as directed by the physician.
- Respond promptly and professionally in emergency situations including administration of CPR.
- Educate patients on the proper use of respiratory equipment and techniques.
- Evaluate patient response to treatments and provide coaching as needed.
- Document all therapies treatments and supplies accurately; submit charges accordingly.
- Communicate therapy outcomes and make clinical recommendations as needed.
- Follow all hospital policies including those related to infection control HIPAA and timekeeping.
- Collaborate professionally with healthcare teams and participate in training or mentoring students when required.
- Demonstrate accountability for meeting licensure and continuing education requirements.
- Integrate continuous quality improvement into daily clinical practice.
Key Success Factors: - Solid knowledge of respiratory care procedures therapies equipment and medications.
- Ability to read document and follow flowchart-based protocols.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Capacity to perform under pressure in a fast-paced ICU setting.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations including EMR documentation data entry scanning and email.
Qualifications: - Education: Associates degree or at least 2 years of relevant experience beyond minimum qualifications.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) Required
- RCP License Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Texas
- RRT Certification Registered Respiratory Therapist (National Board for Respiratory Care)
