Summary of Duties
This position is part of a highly functioning Family Engagement Team at the Klamath Falls Self Sufficiency Office and part of an organization that is creating positive outcomes for families. Family Coaches work closely with Klamath Tribes families and work is based in the Klamath Falls Branch and in the local community.
As a Family Coach you will:
Assist Tribal families in becoming independent healthy and safe through ongoing coaching collaboration and coordination.
Engage families with an understanding and recognition of unique cultural values that may exist within these communities.
Conduct interviews to determine family needs and eligibility.
Explore alternate resources and link clients to community services.
Complete program applications for program benefits and if eligible issue appropriate support payments.
Engage clients in the family evaluation of strengths.
Develop a case plan and identify the familys steps towards self-sufficiency.
Monitor progress and conditions and make necessary modifications to the case plan.
Initiate and participate in case staffing employment readiness life skills training and support job search as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelors degree in a Behavioral Science Social Science or a closely related field
OR
A bachelors degree in any field AND one year of human services related experience (i.e. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged employment abuse and neglect substance abuse aging disabilities prevention health cultural competencies inadequate housing)
OR
An associate degree in a Behavioral Science Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience (i.e. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged employment abuse and neglect substance abuse aging disabilities prevention health cultural competencies inadequate housing)
OR
Three years of human services related experience (i.e. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged employment abuse and neglect substance abuse aging disabilities prevention health cultural competencies inadequate housing).
Essential Attributes
We are looking for candidates with:
Experience supporting individuals or families in identifying their needs setting goals and developing action plans with a focus on Tribal culture communities and families.
Experience using critical thinking skills to make informed decisions based on analysis knowledge and professional experience.
Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with professionalism honesty and integrity.
Experience applying trauma-informed practices to support individuals in a respectful and empowering manner.
Experience using various computer software programs to accurately enter manage and retrieve information.
Experience supporting survivors of domestic violence.
**Preference will be given to candidates who have documented and demonstratable experience working with Tribal populations and communities.

Working Conditions
Your work shift will be 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday. However when in the interest of operational needs the starting and stopping times for a particular 8-hour day may be adjusted.
Hours of work may vary from day to day and may include evenings and weekends.
Fast-paced position that include a high volume of individual and family contact collaboration with various community agencies as well as computer entry and tracking and requires cultural/racial diversity and sensitivity.
You work is conducted in offices participants homes and other community sites.
Some overnight travel may be required to attend statewide meetings and trainings.
Occasional compensated overtime maybe required. All overtime must be pre-approved by supervisor before working it.
You will have contact with a diverse range of people including some who may be experiencing emotional and financial stress and will need to respond with compassion and professionalism through a trauma informed lens.
You will work with domestic violence survivors. These situations may be stressful and understanding self-care and available resources are important.

The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Securitys I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODHS will use E-Verify to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.
A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
