Located at 978 Worcester Street in Wellesley MA the Sports Medicine team at Newton-Wellesley treats a large volume of sports-related injuries. Our specialists offer state-of-the art outpatient surgical treatment using regional anesthesia for conditions of the shoulder knee and ankle. We work with athletes at all levels including: high school college professional athletes and weekend/recreational athletes.
Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time 40-hour Orthopedic Tech to support the practice on-site Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm.
Our Ortho Tech will partner alongside our physicians advanced practice providers physical therapists and medical assistants in the care and treatment of patients with Orthopedic needs.
Responsibilities include:
Applies and removes casts and fits splints and braces for fractures sprains and/or positioning under the direction of Physicians and Physicians Assistants.
Responsible for ordering orthopedic and patient care supplies for the Cast Clinic. Orders and ensures the appropriate stocking provision and fitting of braces slings traction and other Orthopedic equipment and services needed at the Walk In Clinic.
Distributes sets up and fits Orthopedic equipment and provides related education to both patients and staff.
Assists training of Medical Assistants appropriately in the set up and fitting of Orthopedic durable medical equipment to competently provide this service when Orthopedic Technician are not available.
Collaborates with Orthopedic Physicians Assistants and Medical Assistants as needed to prepare the cast clinic work schedules and coordinates daily and weekly requirements with Lead Orthopedic Tech and Practice.
Maintains the Orthopedic equipment inventory and ensures that appropriate charging for supplies equipment and services are generated.
Distributes sets up and fits Orthopedic equipment at the Walk In Clinic
Applies assistive device fitting and gait instructions (crutches canes walker platform attachments etc.)
