    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    1. Masters degree required in Early Childhood or educational administration/leadership.
    2. New Jersey School Administrator Certificate (preferred).
    3. New Jersey Principal Certificate.
    4. New Jersey Early Childhood Certificate.
    5. Minimum of three (3) years successful experience as a principal or district administrator.
    6. Minimum of four (4) years successful experience in teaching Early Childhood.
    7. Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum assessment and instruction.
    8. Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
    9. Ability to create a District-level professional development program.
    10. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
    11. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. Management and Coaching of Instructional Staff

    1. Observes coaches and evaluates Teachers and District Supervisors as well as provides ongoing professional development for targeted improvement in identified growth based on program and student achievement data.
    2. Provides constructive feedback to Principals Vice Principals District Supervisors and on the improvement of student achievement and effective implementation of the Early Childhood curricular programs.
    3. Monitors all Teach NJ Educator Effectiveness activities (IPDP/CAP) observations and evaluations) of District Level Supervisors and Teachers of Early Childhood.
    4. Validates evaluation ratings of District Level Supervisors and Teachers of Early Childhood.
    5. Assumes the orientation and mentor responsibilities of all novice District-level Supervisors as well as monitors the orientation and mentorship of Teachers and Teacher Coaches.
    6. Leverages Teacher Coaches and Interventionists to reach maximum implementation of District approved curricular guides and intervention strategies by providing monthly and quarterly ongoing professional development opportunities.
    7. Synthesizes all Early Childhood achievement quarterly reports and provide a comprehensive review and presentation at various forums throughout the school year.

    II. Curriculum Instruction and Assessment

    1. Serves as the Districts leader and expert in the area of Early Childhood.
    2. Authors updates and furnishes rigorous PK-12 Early Childhood curriculum guides bridge manuals if applicable and technological resources to the District.
    3. Leads the Districts textbook adoption committee and process ensuring all curricular resources and supplements are fully vetted; meeting State standards (NJSLS) and the diverse needs of all students.
    4. Develops a comprehensive strategy to guarantee an accurate inventory and timely distribution of all curricular resources.
    5. Develops all PK-12 Early Childhood diagnostics interim assessments District assessments mid-term and final exams.
    6. Collaborates with the Director of Bilingual and ESL services and the Director of Special Education to ensure curriculum guides units of student resources and assessments are tailored for all learners.
    7. Collaborates with all District Directors to ensure curriculum guides units of study resources and assessments are aligned to State standards and result in interdisciplinary opportunities.

    III. Organizational Leadership

    1. Establishes and executes organizational systems and strategies to monitor District Supervisors Teacher Coaches and District goals.
    2. Develops and monitors strategies for high-level collaboration among faculty and staff.
    3. Communicates effectively and maintains a positive disposition in all circumstances to ensure an outcome that promotes student academic achievement staff professional development and District-wide success.
    4. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive of Early Childhood.

    IV. Early Childhood Improvement Plan

    1. Engages collaboratively in the school-wide and District-wide Early Childhood effort to build a shared vision and supportive culture identify common goals and monitor and evaluate progress toward those goals.
    2. Develops and monitors a recruitment plan to sustain enrollment of students each year meeting the required enrollment target.
    3. Participates actively as an Early Childhood team member to improve teaching and learning in the school and District.
    4. Participates actively as part of the school team giving feedback on Early Childhood practice examining student work analyzing data from multiple sources making decisions to improve student learning and being accountable for each students learning in the area of Early Childhood.
    5. Reports results of improvement plan effectiveness to school Principals as well as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and Deputy Superintendent on a regular basis.
    6. Helps design and participates in school and/or District professional development activities to improve Early Childhood teachings and learning.
    7. Helps design and participates in parent and family workshops to enhance Early Childhood learning at home and school.
    8. Engages in professional learning to enhance his/her knowledge and skill in Early Childhood contributes to the knowledge and skills of SupervisorsTeacher Coaches as well as Teachers and work collaboratively to advance professional practice in Early Childhood.

    REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Early Childhood


    SALARY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION

    1. Salary: The salary range for this position is $156000-$171000.
    2. Employment Period: Twelve (12) Months
    3. Union Affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.)
