This Materials/Mechanical technician position is part of the Component Engineering department within the Component & Material Evaluation Laboratory. We are responsible for the qualification testing and failure analysis of the wide range of components and materials utilized in our products. We are looking for an individual to staff the Materials Lab portion of our operation. .

What You Will Do:

  • Performing the testing required to extend the shelf life of age sensitive materials

  • Responsible for sample preparation and testing of adhesives paints tapes potting materials labels coatings films as well as unknown materials or contaminants

  • Responsible for identifying unknown organic materials using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy)

  • Performs material property analysis using thermal analysis equipment including TMA TGA DSC and DMA a tensile tester viscometer and durometers

  • Responsible for becoming lab focal responsible for calibration operation results interpretation and maintenance of these instruments

  • Summarizing results in PowerPoint and established database

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office software (Outlook Excel Word Power Point)

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) in materials or mechanical engineering technology.

  • Knowledge in the fields of materials mechanical testing chemistry or chemical behavior.

  • Experience in conducting materials testing

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 40000 USD - 70000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
