About the Role:
ICAN Academy is a new private developmental school that provides a neurodiversity-affirming inclusive education for children with autism and related developmental differences. Were seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to lead our inclusive classroom for students in grades Pre-K through 2.
Students receive 1:1 support from behavior technicians enabling you to focus on high-quality instruction with wraparound support. Youll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes SLPs OTs PTs BCBAs and familiesall under one roof.
Responsibilities:
- Provide developmentally appropriate instruction for students in inclusive classrooms
- Implement specially designed instruction in alignment with student needs
- Partner with 1:1 ABA behavior technicians to promote regulation engagement and learning
- Collaborate with internal therapy teams and families to align supports across environments
- Conduct educational assessments collect data and monitor student progress
- Write implement and revise IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings eligibility determinations and parent conferences
- Maintain accurate documentation and submit required reports on time
- Uphold confidentiality and ensure compliant practices in all interactions
- Support a positive student-centered classroom culture using strengths-based approaches
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement
- Minimum 1 year of teaching experience (inclusive or autism-supportive setting preferred)
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and accommodations/modifications
- Commitment to neurodiversity-affirming trauma-informed and child-led approaches
- Strong communication collaboration and organizational skills
