Job Description

DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

The Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions licenses monitors investigates examines and ensures the safety and soundness of regulated entities. The Department also helps resolve consumer complaints against financial-services and insurance entities; takes action in response to violations of law; encourages competition innovation and economic development; collects taxes and assessments that support State government operations; combats auto theft and insurance fraud through public awareness campaigns and funding for law enforcement and dedicated prosecutors.

Our mission is to help Arizonans receive the benefits and protections to which they are legally entitled by enforcing insurance and financial institution laws and by providing information and assistance and to combat vehicle theft.

BUSINESS OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATOR

Annual Salary Range: $75000 - $80000

This position will remain posted until filled

Job Summary:

Identifies opportunities for use of solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste; Supports the organizations key business operations processes and applications and recommends business process redesign where applicable; Gathers and documents business requirements for large complex projects.

Translates requirements into business functional and use case documents for large complex projects; Maintains business systems standards by applying project management methods tools and processes as standard practice

Prepares and delivers informative well-organized presentations and reports and project status reviews to stakeholders including process owners executive team customers and stakeholders

Job Duties:

Assists in planning organizing and managing the financial and business management functions (Operations) for the agency; assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures for operations functions; provides support as needed in the areas of budgeting purchasing procurement supplies management and personnel as well as other business services functions that support the operations of the agency

Analyze division operations across the Department for process improvement including IT and workflow solutions; research identify and implement process improvement solutions

Assist in the preparation and submission of the agency annual budget request strategic plan AMS tracking/updates and agency reporting; participate in strategic plan community of practice; provide leadership to agency regarding AMS strategic planning; participate in Governors Transformation Office activities

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

General knowledge of methodologies and techniques for systems analysis and design business process modeling requirements gathering quality assurance and software development

Knowledge of supervising coaching leading motivating training and assisting professional employees

Federal and State requirements laws regulations and agency rules relevant to the agencys mission

Assisting with formulating policies to establish direction of the agency or divisions/departments

Business and management principles involved in strategic planning

Knowledge of policies procedures programs and business goals

Leading through transformation and change

Skills:

Proficient use of analytical skills to evaluate information gathered from multiple sourcesconsolidate details and extract to functional requirements

Analyze operations to evaluate agency performance including business processes budgeting and accounting personnel and purchasing

Plan assign coordinate monitor and evaluate activities of others to ensure activities lead to achievement of organizational goals

Evaluate difficult conflicting issues and situations and adopt an effective course of action

Skills in diplomatically clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams and across organizations

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks required to maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R.11)

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment
