Essential Functions Summary:

Monitors the day-to-day operations to the Child and Family Treatment Center and each individual unit during shift to ensure required coverage building and units are running per schedule and provide support on the units and in situations as needed. Able to professionally and effectively manage crisis with the approval of the Licensed Milieu Supervisor and communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding Lawrence Hall and the youth we serve. Will be required to move throughout the building frequently during assigned shift. This position requires the ability to fill in as coverage during the assigned shift in the absence of a unit team member. However the primary responsibility is to supervise and manage the building as a whole. Holiday and weekend hours required. Overall the AOD is responsible for maintaining safety overseeing the overall fidelity and program function and generating and disseminating all required documentation in the absence of the Unit Coordinator and Licensed Milieu Supervisor.

Strong written communication skills and the ability to provide documentation and support regarding crisis elopements and critical incidents. Must be able to effectively use both verbal and physical intervention skills with individuals six (6) through twenty-one (21) years of age. Physical intervention skills require the ability to kneel and return to standing without assistance.

Essential Functions & Core Responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to policies procedures and protocols during all open activities (dinner events transitions) to maintain program integrity.
• Supervise the CFTC during the PM shift (3pm-11pm) ensuring proper coverage staff schedules youth transportation medication administration and crisis management.
• Monitor train and address staff performance and youth interactions escalating concerns to program leadership as needed.
• Ensure staff maintain discipline safety and balance between individual youth needs and group dynamics.
• Coordinate youth transportation for various needs (hospital schools community resources activities) according to needs.
• Ensure proper staff coverage when employee call offs occur adherence to schedules transportation of youth medication administration and crisis management.
• Ensure completion of required paperwork (e.g. AOD End of Shift Medicaid MAR Incident Reports) by end of each shift and ensure timely dissemination to designated parties
• Maintain discipline and safety balancing individual youth needs with group dynamics.
• Oversee transportation plans for youth to appointments activities and resources.
• Ensure staff complete required paperwork (e.g. attendance incident reports Medicaid forms) by the end of each shift.
• Ensure proper medical care in crisis situations as directed by the medical department.
• Manage agency vehicle usage including distributing keys maintaining logs and ensuring cleanliness.
• Monitor and log gas card usage including collecting all receipts and submitting timely (within 3 hours).
• Notify On-Call Licensed Milieu Supervisor and Clinician of critical situations including logging the date and time of notification.
• Apply trauma-informed practices to support healing and recovery avoiding re-traumatization.
• Assist staff with providing basic living needs (food shelter clothing etc.) while addressing individual resident needs.
• Use active listening affirmations and empathy to promote respect and avoid negative labeling.
• Understand that behaviors may stem from traumatic experiences and serve as survival mechanisms.
• Maintain confidentiality to ensure a safe environment.
• Attend at least two trauma-informed training sessions annually (Think Trauma).
• Work effectively with diverse populations to support healing and recovery.
• Participate in agency required conferences/training to improve knowledge and share insights.
• Maintain AOD rounds reports and provide access to designated individuals.
• Maintain flexibility to adjust work schedules based on program needs and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role preferred or High School Diploma plus 5 years of experience in a human service field/similar role.
• Demonstrated competence as a residential treatment specialist; demonstrated ability to work effectively with others; demonstrated potential in administrative and supervisory abilities; maintains regular attendance and must demonstrate willingness and capacity to learn on the job
• Computer proficiency and excellent verbal and written communication required
• Knowledge of childhood trauma and prior experience working in settings with youth and families that have been exposed to trauma or experiencing traumatic stress preferred
• Knowledge of youth development adolescent issues positive youth development/strength-based approach preferred
• A clean driving record and valid Illinois drivers license.
• No history of child abuse or neglect and ability to pass background and drug screen

Work Schedule:

Required to work 2nd shift (1pm-11pm 3pm-11pm) adjust hours as needed to be available for admissions work within the CFTC building and must be available for on-call related matters.

Work Environment:

The work may be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions to support positive youth development youth engagement and safety. Involves travel to various other location as needed. Use of technology and computer equipment. Schedule will require working varied shifts dependent on case needs (first second or third shift and weekends). The possibility of injury or secondary trauma is moderate to high.

All employees are required to complete and maintain certifications in all trainings relevant to their role. This position specifically mandates completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) with restraint training. Subsequent recertification is required every six months. Successful completion of these trainings is essential but equally important is the consistent application of these skills in daily work.

Compensation:

Compensation is determined by a set base salary for each position with additional compensation considered based on relevant education and experience. This position has a compensation range from $20/hour to $24/hour.
