The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is responsible for providing direct treatment assistance to individuals and families under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT). The COTA implements treatment plans or protocols as directed by the OT.
The COTA must have excellent organization time management and communication skillsboth verbal and written. They must be able to interact appropriately with all clients families visitors and other professionals. Services may be provided in a clinic school-based or in-home setting dependent upon the clientele needs. The COTA is an hourly non-exempt positions.

Essential Job Functions Conduct client screenings as directed by the OT.
Implement treatment plans or protocols as directed by OT.
Assist OT in the remediation or development of targeted functional skills.
Collect and compile data to document clients performance or assess program quality.
Document clients progress toward meeting established treatment objectives.
Test or maintain equipment to ensure correct performance.
Completes other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Perform support duties such as preparing materials keeping records maintaining supplies and scheduling activities
Prepare charts graphs or other visual displays to communicate clients performance information.
Select or prepare occupational therapy materials.
Select appropriate activities suited to the individuals physical and mental capacity or interests.
Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
Arrange travel time to maximize contact with students or other clientele and to accomplish other duties.
Engage in continuing education and professional growth activities related to the profession and scope of practice.
Make appropriate recommendations and referrals for additional medical and other related services as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
Ability to problem solve and take constructive feedback.
Ability to organize tasks and manage time independently.
Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
Ability to interact appropriately with clients families visitors as well as Arc personnel and vendors and other professionals.
Ability to stand stoop lift up to 50 lbs and pull and push items on an infrequent basis.
Licensed and insured driver with a vehicle available for work.
Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications
Associate degree from an occupational therapy assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Missouri Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure active and in good standing by the MO Board of Healing Arts
