Job Description: Assistant professor tenure-track translational research in neurodegenerative disorders . As a faculty member in the Department of Neurology at the Rutgers- RWJMS you will conduct translational research exploring epilepsy in neurodegenerative disorders and work towards identifying risk factors. It is also anticipated that you will develop new areas of research investigations in collaboration with other members of the Department especially those in the area of Alzheimers disease. You will be expected to obtain and maintain extramural funding to support the costs of your research. You will also be expected to publish scientific papers that describe the results of your studies. As a faculty member you will be expected to contribute to the Departments educational activities and serve on committees when requested by the Chair such as organizing seminars and serving on search committees for new faculty recruitments. You will also be expected to interact regularly with members of the Department of Neurology and the neuroscience communities. Your clinical responsibilities will include outpatient care to an extent permitted by your funded research to evaluate and manage patients with epilepsy cognitive disorders and other neurological conditions as necessary. You will also serve as attending neurologist on the general neurology service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital approximately 3 weeks per year. You will participate in the call schedule during weekdays and certain weekends proportional to your protected research time and according to a schedule determined by the Department Chair. These responsibilities may be amended upon written notification to you. The breakdown of responsibilities will initially be: Clinical (cFTE) 0.2 Research (rFTE) 0.7 Education (eFTE) 0.05 Service (sFTE) 0.05. Educational activities will include mentoring trainees bed-side teaching and didactic lectures. If you require staff for your research or other operations all hiring must adhere to any applicable federal state and local laws collective negotiations agreement and University policies and procedures.
