Eastpointe Community Schools is a community of under 2500 students: we are proud of our Early Learning Center four Elementary Schools one Middle School and Secondary Campus which supports 800 students in grades 8-12 through an 8th Grade Academy a traditional high school setting for grades 9-12 and a Virtual Academy/Alternative Center. We boast partnerships with Michigan State University Boys & Girls Club Macomb Community College and many other community entities.
The Secondary DEAN will assist with the grade 9-12 high school the Virtual Academy the Alternative Program and the 8th grade Academy. The DEAN works with the building leaders and District Administration leading students and staff to progress toward clear goals aligned with the District Strategic Plan. The DEAN of Students will serve as the primary advocate for supporting the diverse needs of students. Supporting attendance behavior student mobility academic and non-academic needs. The DEAN will coordinate positive behavior interventions after-school events culture and climate team members and develop a culture and climate of high expectations.

Our Dean of Students will:
Participate in school district region and state meetings as appropriate
Assist students in establishing high standards of conduct
Support educator professional growth by modeling relationship positive redirection and productive discipline
Counsel students and parents about school and district policies
Coordinate efforts with guidance school psychologist and/or social worker in meeting with students and parents to discuss improving student attendance and/or behavior
Assist in the interpretation of school district programs relating to student substance abuse and truancy
Performance Responsibilities:
(This position will not perform any administration or supervision of staff or perform evaluations of teachers or other professional staff.)
Support a Multi-tiered system of interventions for students including but not limited to behavior attendance student mobility academic and non-academic needs
Serve on the Positive Behavior Support Team (PBIS) and coordinate implementation of Committee goals and initiatives
Implement Federal State Board and District Policies/Laws as it pertains to student discipline

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Preference given to those with ESL Certification Masters Degree in Education or Social Work and/or Behavior Specialist
Reports to: Building Principal
Salary Data: Tentative agreement on a new salary schedule has been agreed to with the teacher association for 2025-26. 15 step schedule. Bachelors lane: $49350 - $80483. Masters lane: $53500 - $85200 plus $3000 additional on each step for MA30 or beyond.
This position will also have a stipend of $10000 above the teachers contract for the additional responsibilities that require work time beyond the normal teaching day or calendar. As with other non-classroom positions (ie. counselors) this position will not receive a preparation period. The position will require 7-8 additional days to be scheduled with the building administrator.
Performance Evaluation: As a teacher in the EFE the Dean of Students will be evaluated with the approved District tool by the Principal.
