An opportunity exists to join Fleet and Logistic to assist in the provision of Transport Operations day driver service delivery to the force. You will be part of a professional dedicated team and will need to be flexible in your approach.

Responsibilities;

  • The provision of a dispatch service in support of force wide LPAs and departments and occasionally outside the force area.
  • Mail scanning.
  • Forensic services and firearm collection and delivery.
  • Police vehicle collection and delivery for routine service maintenance and repair.
  • You will be required to drive dispatch vans and cars and may occasionally be required to drive other vehicles dependent upon your driving licence categories

Essential:

  • An un-endorsed driving licence with B licence entitlement.
  • Experience of driving and operating a range of cars and light commercial vehicles including daily checks and routine maintenance necessary and appropriate to maintain roadworthy conditions. - Ability to comply with the necessary Force driving standards of competence.
  • Ability to dynamically risk asses the suitability to lift/move equipment/goods weighing up to 25kg using mechanical aids where necessary
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • To have a good knowledge of roads in the force area and nationally.
  • Computer literacy to facilitate updating of fleet management software with daily driving records and usage of other systems as necessary.

Desirable:

  • To hold a first aid at work certificate.
  • Possession of BE C1 C1E D1 and D1E licence entitlement or be willing to undertake training to achieve the required standard to enable driving and operating a range of personnel carriers and light commercial vehicles including daily checks and routine maintenance necessary to maintain roadworthy conditions.
  • Possession of a police driving authority.

Vetting:Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearancescrutiny prior to commencing their role this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
