Job Description

Patient Access Supervisor- Cortland Urgent Care- Full Time- Days/Evenings FLEX

The Patient Access Department is the first point of contact for patients and assists them with registration processes. Responsibilities include patient interviews collecting and verifying demographic insurance and financial data and accurately entering information into computer. Excellent interpersonal skills communication skills accurate typing skills knowledge of office procedures and ability to work independently required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and caregivers warmly and properly identify patients using two identifiers before scanning identification into the database.
  • Register patients by collecting accurate demographic and insurance information verifying insurance and completing all required registration forms.
  • Adhere to admitting policies including patient placement transfers and discharge procedures while managing imaging requisitions and following procedures for deaths and autopsies.
  • Maintain coverage for registration areas including scheduling supply ordering and orienting and training new staff.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of admits discharges and transfers re-educating PSRs as needed.
  • Troubleshoot process data and insurance issues propose solutions and ensure proficiency in downtime procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent experience
  • Two years clerical experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Associates degree in business administration or similar field
  • Previous healthcare experience and medical terminology

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. use of computer keyboard).
  • May require use of lifting and carrying light loads (up to 10 pounds).
  • Sitting or standing/walking for long periods of time.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Onsite- Cortland Urgent Care: 1129 Commons Ave Cortland NY 13045
  • Shift: Center is open 7 days a week 7:30-7:30. Shifts would likely be M-F with the possibility of taking calls and/or covering on the weekend.
  • 25% Travel can be expected in this role to other sites where Patient Service Representative staff are located: Cayuga Medical Center Cayuga Park Outpatient Offices etc.

Pay Transparency:

  • Standard rate of $23.00 - $28.50 per hour with benefits
