About The Team

The veterinary program at Murdoch University has established a reputation for excellence since the first class graduated in 1979.

Murdochs veterinary degree is globally accredited by the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Murdochs veterinary degree was also the first in Australia to receive accreditation from the AVMA.

Since 2014 Murdoch University has offered a five-year veterinary degree program comprising an integrated Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Biology) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). The introduction of the DVM has enhanced opportunities to combine hands-on clinical training veterinary professional life skills research experience and species-group electives across the DVM program. The School is well resourced with research and teaching facilities a student skills hub an anatomy museum a large veterinary teaching hospital and a working farm all located on the Perth campus.

Veterinary Anaesthesia is a key discipline within the School of Veterinary Medicine supporting a busy and active surgery and diagnostic caseload. Veterinary anaesthesia is a core subject within the DVM. The discipline also contributes to research in anaesthesiology and supports a referral service externally to the community of Western Australia.

The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is one of 4 schools within the College of Environmental and Life Sciences.

Your New Role!

A Lecturer within the Clinical or Professional Practice Scholar track is expected to develop scholarly teaching and professional activities relevant to the discipline. This position contributes to the teaching effort of the discipline through the preparation and delivery of lectures tutorials other types of teaching activities as well as participating within the clinical activity of the hospital. The person in this position is also expected to perform a range of administrative and service functions within the College and across the University.

A Senior Lecturer (Level C) is expected to have developed a strong clinical professional focus evidenced by advanced practice status and/or research outputs in quality research position makes a significant contribution to the teaching effort of the Discipline through the preparation and delivery of lectures and tutorials program coordination and supervision of honours and postgraduate staff at this level will also be involved in a broad range of administrative and service functions in the College and across the University and professional activities within the discipline.

Your Key responsibilities will include

  • Teach and inspire veterinary students through lectures practicals and clinical supervision.
  • Provide expert clinical anaesthesia services at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University including after-hours support.
  • Drive innovation in teaching and learning practices within your discipline.
  • Contribute to impactful research and present at national/international conferences.
  • Mentor and support undergraduate postgraduate and HDR students.
  • Lead and coordinate course and unit delivery.
  • Collaborate across the School University and broader veterinary community.
