Job purpose

The role of Pharmacy Driver is vital toward fulfilling the mission of the Fair Haven Community Health Center (FHCHC). The responsibilities for serving in this capacity include performing clerical functions required for business operations of a 340B Contract Retail Pharmacy located within the health center. As a Federal Qualified Health Care facility our pharmacy clerk helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests and referring inquiries to the pharmacist. This position also requires delivery of prescriptions to various sites and patients homes and includes reimbursement for mileage tracked according to IRS guidelines.

Duties and responsibilities

The Pharmacy Driver is an integral member of the FHCHC team working collaboratively to assist and support FHCHC providers and patients. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver high-level customer service to communicate with customers and support administrative needs.
  • Clearly refer customer inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Answer questions and handle requests in accordance with pharmacy policies.
  • Adhere to safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and a high degree of initiative.
  • Thrive in a flexible environment where requirements vary and may adjust to align with changing demands in the department.
  • Support multiple sites.
  • Assist health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone.
  • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to the pharmacy team by adhering to compliance and security protocols and supporting overall pharmacy operation
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successfully demonstrate high quality interpersonal relations and customer service skills. Previous experience with sales register and healthcare preferred.
  • Drivers license issued in the State of Connecticut is required. Must possess good driving record and reliable transportation.
  • The pharmacy driver must have pharmacy technician registration in the State of Connecticut or be able to obtain it within the first 90 days of hire
  • BLS Certificate Required
  • Bilingual required (English and Spanish)
