Dorchester County Public Schools is currently seeking an Administrative Secretary - Attendance. The successful candidate must be a self-starter able to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment. This candidate must have a flexible and positive attitude for working in a school environment interactive with school staff students parents and central office staff on a regular basis. The work covered includes overall clerical tasks and record keeping duties. Tasks to be performed while working with student records and finances are deemed confidential.
DUTIES:
- Maintains accurate database of employee attendance records.
- Maintains student attendance and record keeping of documents related to school-based software program.
- Generates attendance reports as needed.
- Auditing of attendance records.
- Verifies students arrival and departure during the school day.
- Composes and produces correspondence and reports for review and approval of the principal.
- Composes and prepares correspondence reports notices and memorandums for distribution.
- Maintains a regular filing system and processes incoming correspondences as instructed.
- Works closely with Department of Student Services for truancy purposes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience preferred.
- Proficiency in preparing reviewing and maintaining a variety of complex records including student records and various reports.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with employees students and parents.
- Ability to routinely multi-task.
- Ability to deal with a variety of situations and problems under specified time constraints.
- Ability to plan organize and develop work procedures and follow established routines.
- Proficiency in word processing spreadsheet and database software; to include Microsoft Word Excel Outlook.
- Experience with attendance and/or payroll documentation and processing preferred.
