Job Description

Position: Drum Line Instructor/Lay Coach

Location: Sand Springs Public Schools/Charles Page High School

Salary: Stipend $7500.00 (Paid over 12 months)

Reports to: Music Director(s) Building Principal and Asst. Principal(s) as warrented

Qualifications: Pass an OSBI Background Check


The Sand Springs Band program is accepting resumes for the position of Drum Line/Percussion Instructor for the 2025-2026 school year.

Duties & Responsibilities:


The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of the HS drum line/percussion program including but
not limited to teaching fundamental skills and show & pep music arranging extra rehearsals as
necessary and keeping the members up-to-date on band events and schedules.


Participation in rehearsals and sectionals as well as attendance at all band events involving drum
line is a requirement (eg-football games marching contests parades etc.) The normal rehearsal
schedule is mornings 7am-9am and after school rehearsals are at the discretion of the staff in
agreement with student availability. The schedule following the fall season through the remainder of
the school year is similar and the emphasis shifts to percussion ensembles and concert skills.

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead above the shoulder and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 15 pounds

Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 70 pounds ability to administer CPR

Visual Requirements: Close color peripheral depth perception ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information


Individuals should be highly organized and able to maintain appropriate relationships/boundaries with
the students and be able to abide fully by the policies of Sand Springs Schools.

AFTER HOURS COMMITMENT: After hours time required will vary with the time of year.
