Job Description

Permanent Physician Assistant-Neurosurgery Day Shift

Location: Dallas TX 75246
Shift: Full Time Days 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions:
  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused physical exams and medical histories.
  • Order interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to determine patient health needs.
  • Prescribe or recommend medical therapies and procedures within scope.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
  • Evaluate patient responses to care making appropriate adjustments to plans.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care including hospital rounding.
  • Counsel patients and families on conditions treatments medications nutrition and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate timely and complete documentation of care and outcomes.
  • Refer to specialists when issues fall outside the PAs scope of practice.
  • Participate in inpatient management and assist in the operating room and emergency settings.
  • May require after-hours coverage as needed.
Key Success Factors:
  • Knowledge of neurosurgical care diagnostics and treatments.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacology disease processes and rehabilitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to use EMR and healthcare software efficiently.
  • Proficiency in performing procedures within PA scope.
  • Ability to educate and counsel patients and families.
  • Skilled in assessing diagnosing and developing care plans.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Experience: New graduates considered (Less than 1 year of experience required)
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas (Required)
    • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification (Required)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer (Required)
