Job Description

Permanent Nurse Practitioner-Hospitalist

Location: Dallas TX 75246
Shift: Full-Time Night 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions
  • Perform comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtain medical histories.
  • Order collect and interpret diagnostic tests (labs imaging etc.) to assess patient health.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend treatments per approved protocols with attention to safety cost-effectiveness and patient efficacy.
  • Develop and implement individualized evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patient responses to interventions and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Provide patient and family education on diagnoses medications lifestyle changes and preventive care.
  • Maintain complete and timely documentation of care provided.
  • Refer patients to specialists when care needs fall outside scope or expertise.
  • May perform minor invasive procedures within scope of practice.
  • Participate in hospital admissions and discharges and may provide on-call coverage as needed.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in hospital medicine
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Ability to interpret complex diagnostic data
  • Ability to educate and counsel patients and families effectively
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Experience: New graduates are welcome (less than 1 year of experience acceptable)
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Texas
    • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
    • Board Certification as an APRN in an appropriate population focus (e.g. AGACNP FNP)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)-must be obtained within 30 days of hire
