Job Description: RN - GI Surgery (OR) (Charge Nurse)
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the nursing staff in the operating room for GI surgeries.
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Ensure compliance with surgical protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor patients conditions and respond appropriately to changing situations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Act as a mentor and resource for junior nursing staff.
- Participate in staff training and development activities.
- Conduct patient education and provide support to patients and their families.
- Coordinate with surgical teams anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Adhere to hospital policies and promote a culture of safety and excellence within the team.
Essential Qualifications
- A current RN License in the State of Illinois is required.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- ACLS certification is preferred; required for critical care and ER settings.
- PALS certification is necessary for ER and Pediatrics.
- NRP certification required for Special Care Nursery.
Desired Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience in a surgical or critical care setting.
- Experience in outpatient GI procedures is a plus.
- Strong background in electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred.
